Learn to Sew!!!

Learn the timeless timeless, useful, creative, and FUN skill of sewing in private or small group lessons with Kate!  Contact me for rates and availability.  Email: kfriedman18 at gmail dot com.

I can help you make anything you want!  I'll show you how to use a sewing machine (mine or yours), how to use a sewing pattern (which seems like it's written in ancient Greek,) teach you hand-stitching fixes you can use to repair your own clothing while stuck in a foreign hotel room, or anything you specifically want to learn!  I have helped many people learn to make and alter their own clothes and other specialty items.  I'll also help you make a shopping list to create your own "sewing basket" at home.

This student had a new machine tutorial and made a cross-body purse, skirt, fancy gown, and belt!

If you would like references, please contact me using this email address: kfriedman18 at gmail dot com.

I am happy to give you a one-time lesson, or lessons on a recurring basis.  I can come to you, but the most common thing is for me to host students in my home.  Usually the best minimum age is approximately 8 years old, or 1st grade.  And there is no upper age limit ;).

I enjoy offering group workshops if you have a group of friends who all want to learn something together.  In the past this has taken the form of "girls night" sewing workshops, but I have secretly always wanted to do a bachelors/men's sewing class!  So if you fit that description, get some guys together so you won't have to run over to the tailor for a loose button.  Isn't that kinda a waste of time when it's so easy to make a few stitches ;)?

Please be in touch if you would like to learn to sew.  It would be my pleasure to teach you!

Since no one ever photographs me while sewing, to introduce myself I am sharing this photo of me with one of my favorite students.  She already enjoys adjusting settings on my sewing machine, poking around with pins in a pincushion, sorting buttons by color, unraveling thread, and snipping ribbons into tiny pieces!
